Which Country Is Gayer? How the LGBT Rights Quiz Actually Scores
Which Country Is Gayer? is a Higher-or-Lower style quiz built on LGBT-rights indexes, not on stereotypes or jokes about people. Two countries appear. The prompt asks who is gayer or less gay on that round’s metric. The winner stays. A wrong pick ends the run.
The title is blunt on purpose so it can be found. The mechanic is a civics comparison: published index numbers and marriage-equality status, stored as a browser game with a local highscore.
What the numbers are
- Rainbow Index-style scores — how protective the legal environment is, not how many people you have met from that country.
- Equality Index-style scores — another published rights scale. Do not assume it ranks the same as Rainbow for every pair.
- Marriage equality — often a yes/no legal fact, which is easier than a 0–100 index until two countries both have (or both lack) it.
How to play without guessing from the flag
Read the prompt. “Gayer” and “less” reverse the correct side. A country that wins a Rainbow round can lose a marriage-equality round. Treating “Western Europe always higher” will still fail on close pairs and on countries whose laws changed recently.
For editors who want a responsible link
If you cover LGBT policy, travel safety, or data journalism, this page is the explainer; the game is the interactive. Cite the indexes’ publishers in your own article if you go deeper than our quiz. We are a free browser game, not a legal advice site.
